When the APC
and Buhari were in the opposition, they claimed there was nothing like fuel
subsidy. In fact, they said any government saying there was fuel subsidy such a
government was only perpetuating fraud! But today, the reverse is the case;
they claimed they have been subsidizing fuel since 2015! And in the 2019
budget, APC and Buhari have budgeted a whopping N1.149 billion for the same
fuel subsidy which was a fraud when they were in the opposition. They promised
to sell a litre of fuel for N40 but today the same hypocrites are selling a
litre of fuel for N145. When they increased fuel price from N87 to N145, they
vowed to use the proceeds to build a new refinery each year of their
administration. But almost four years in office, they haven't laid the
foundation of a single refinery not to talk of building four refineries.
They said
any government that couldn’t provide electricity within six months in office
was not fit to remain in power but they have been in power for almost four
years yet there is no improvement in the provision of electricity. In the 2019
budget, the ministry of power budgeted a whopping N168 million to buy generators
and fuel! What a shame!
Also, APC
and Buhari vowed to defeat the Boko Haram insurgents within a short time in
office, and after two years in office they said they have technically defeated the
Boko Haram insurgents yet the activities of Boko Haram have spread from the
northeast were they were hitherto limited, to northwest and northcentral.
Herdsmen are killing innocent Nigerians anyhow yet none of them has been
arrested since 2015. They haven't been declared as a terrorist group but Buhari
was quick to declare members of the IPOB a terrorist group! What an irony? If the
Niger Delta militants should burst one oil pipeline, all the security agents
would be deployed to that region and crush them within a packet of time but not
so with the herdsmen. So, who is deceiving who?
Members of
the opposition party, APC were marking June 12 every year-holding lectures and
demanding for the restructuring of the country, they claimed would lead to
state police, resource control and total devolution of power from the federal
government to the federating states but as soon as they assumed power they
discarded everything they hitherto celebrated about June 12 and all the
lectures they were holding when they were in the opposition have all ceased.
Buhari and
his APC party, promised the rule of law but what we have today is rule of
Buhari and APC! Several courts have granted bail to Sambo Dasuki and Sheikh
Ibrahim ElZakzaky yet Buhari and the APC government are still keeping them in
custody but Buhari kept blaming the Judiciary as the barrier to his
anti-corruption fight when he doesn't obey court ruling and pronouncements.
Buhari has
become the "Alpha and Omega" of Nigeria by unilaterally suspending
the Chief Justice of Nigeria and quickly appointing his northern brother in the
person of Mohammed Tanko when the constitute says it is only the National
Assembly that has the power to remove him from office by 2/3 majority votes. With
all these abnormalities and aberrations being visited on the country by the APC
and Buhari, some undiscerning Nigerians are still calling for their
re-election.
We must not
allow the APC and Buhari to plunge this country into an irredeemable chaos,
therefore, we must vote them out come February 16, 2019. A word they say is
enough for the wise.
