SARAKI IMPEACHES PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI!

                                              Senate President Bukola Saraki

The suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen by President Muhammadu Buhari is a flagrant abusive of power and the 1999 Nigerian Constitution. Obviously, every Nigerian knows that Mr. Buhari has no power to suspend Justice Onnoghen or any serving Justice for that matter but instead of all Nigerians to rise up in unison, in condemning this perfidy, some Nigerians because of their political leaning, parochial and personal gains, are eulogizing Mr. President.

If these mischievous and ignorant Nigerians that are applauding President Buhari for suspending Justice Onnoghen should hear that the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki unilaterally pronounce the impeachment of President Buhari without having 2/3 majority votes of members of the Senate, will they say such impeachment should stand? If their answer to this all important question is in the negative, then, they shouldn't praise Mr. Buhari for suspending the CJN when he has no such power to do so.

What Mr. Buhari has just done by this vainglorious act was tantamount to the suspension of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution which empowers the three arms of government: Judiciary, Legislature and Executive to operate independently and also act as checks and balances among themselves. But not the Executive arm arrogating to itself the power of "Alpha and Omega" and subjecting the remaining two arms of government: Judiciary and Legislature to a slavish position as if they are subordinate to the Executive arm, should not be tolerated. It must be made clear that the Executive arm of government is never and can't be superior to the remaining two arms of government-the three arms of government are partners in progress, for the smooth running of the entire governance system. None is superior and none is inferior!

But Buhari, as head of the Executive arm of the government thinks otherwise, he feels he is superior to the heads of the remaining two arms of government-Legislature and Judiciary, hence he behaves as a dictator and also acts as one. This is most unfortunate! This abuse of power by Buhari under the guise of fighting corruption is never extended to anyone related or close to the Buhari's family. Sani Baba-Inna, the former aide camp to the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, duped innocent Nigerians of N2,5 billion yet Buhari, the self-styled anti-corruption czar or watchdog didn’t deem it fit to prosecute him. Nigerians haven't been told if that whopping sum of money has been returned to the rightful owners or not yet Buhari claims to be fighting corruption!

Again, with all the monies being recovered from Late General Sani Abacha's foreign bank accounts, Buhari the self-styled anti-corruption crusader said, "No matter what anybody says, Abacha was not corrupt." This was because he served under the Abacha’s government as chairman of the defunct Petroleum Trust Fund. There are many allegations against some members of the Buhari’s government but none of them has been taken to court! To Buhari, anyone around him can steal the country blind-that is not corruption but anyone not close to him but accused of corruption without trial in is corrupt-that is his definition of corruption!

Those Nigerians that are egging Buhari to go on with his dictatorial drive should know that this was how many notable dictators across the world began-they took the laws into their hands. The Adolf Hitler of this world that slaughtered seven million Jews in one feel swoop, Benito Mussolini, Idi Amin, Pol Pot, Josef Stalin, Bashar Al-Assad, Naopoleon Bonaparte etc, were all egged on by their sycophants who were benefiting from the autocratic posture of their leaders. These sycophantic Nigerians should be careful because this pretentious and persecutory corruption war may get to their doorsteps tomorrow!
