The former chairman of Ikeja Local Government Area, Lagos State, Mr. Toyin Hamzat was killed on Sunday night at Sabo, Sagamu, Ogun State, at about 9 P.M. It may interest you to know that Hamzat was also former adviser on health to Governor Babatunde Fashola during his first term in office.
He was said to have left Sagamu Town Club where he went for a meeting and was returning home when he was murdered in cold blood. However, it was learnt that the victim had just dropped a female companion when gunmen ambushed his car and shot him dead. It was speculated that nothing was stolen in the vehicle in which Hamzat was killed giving credence to insinuation that he might have been assassinated. It was learnt that the former Local Government boss was shot in the head. His body was deposited in a morgue in Sagamu. The politician was seen at Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola’s 2000 days in office celebration, held at LTV8, Ikeja recently. The killing of Hamzat has further increased the number of people that have been killed without their assailants being arrested. The question on the lips of many Nigerians is when will these senseless killings come to end in this country?
