PAPA ALFRED E. OSOMITOJE GOES HOME

                                      LATE CHIEF ALFRED E. OSOMITOJE
                                                  LYING IN STATE
Womenfolk (Evweya) dancing round the coffin according to the tradition of the Urhobo people of Delta State. It was celebration of a life well spent during the funeral of late Papa (Chief) Alfred E. Osomitoje which took place on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Igun Town, in Ethiope East Local Government Area, Delta State. Papa passed on to glory at a very ripe age of 81 years. He is survived by five sons, six daughters and fourteen grand-children. The children were ably led by the eldest son, Mr. Masson Osomitoje to give papa a deserving and befitting burial. The compound of late Papa Alfred Osomitoje which was also the venue of the burial and the adjacent compounds were jammed with people, a clear indication that Papa led a good life and was a friend of the people!

Esegbuyota Social Club of Nigeria, Lagos Branch, which Mr. Masson Osomitoje led for four years as president, was visibly present at the burial to support their able member and former president. Also, the Committee of Friends (COF), another social group which Mr. Masson Osomitoje belongs, showed its strong presence at the burial as many of the members were at the funeral venue. The members of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), which Mr. Masson Osomitoje attends were also present to assist their brother in the Lord in giving his late father a befitting burial. Other children and grandchildren of papa also had their friends, club members, church members, friends and well wishers present celebrate with them.
While many funeral ceremonies are usually laden with weeping and mourning that of Papa Osomitoje was jubilation throughout the period the funeral ceremony lasted. But why will any person weep or mourn when papa departed the earth at a very old age? Papa was not only old, he was a fruitful man with many children and grand-children. A distinguished traditional leader who was good to everybody as evidenced by the large turn out of people that came to witness his glorious exit and pay their last respect to him.
Adieu Papa (Chief) Alfred E. Osomitoje!
