Mrs. Aisha Buhari
The First Lady, Mrs. Aisha Buhari has reacted to the claim by
Ekiti State Governor Mr. Ayo Fayose that she was involved in the Halliburton
bribery scandal involving a U.S. Lawmaker, Mr. Williams Jefferson. Reacting
through her verified tweeter handle, Mrs. Buhari tweeted: “Enough is enough.
Fayose is unchanged mad dog. If Buhari is 73 years old, I Aisha am 45 years
old, I have more than enough energy to face you.”
As a result of the anti-corruption agency, EFCC freezing of
the bank account of Fayose, he accused President Buhari of not being clean. He
said: “Even President Buhari cannot claim to be an angel. The estate he built
in Abuja is known to us. His wife was indicted over the Halliburton scandal
(sic). When that American, Jefferson, was being sentenced, the President’s wife
was mentioned as having wired $170,000 to Jefferson. Her name was on page 25 of
the sentencing of Jefferson. We can serialize the judgment for people to see
and read.”
Consequently, Mrs. Buhari, in her letter she sent to Fayose
through her legal counsel, gave Fayose five working days to retract his
statement or face legal action. According to Mrs. Buhari, Fayose’s allegation
was the cause of the “very wild and unfounded” accusation in the media.
