In a bid to solidify the budding relationship between the Guild of Public Affairs Analysts of Nigeria (GPAAN) and Women Arise for Change Initiative, members of the Guild paid a thank you visit to Dr. Joe Odumakin, founder of Women Arise for Change Initiative at her corporate office, at Omole Phase one, Akiode-Lagos. The visit which took today, was to thank Odumakin for creating time out of her very tight schedule to train members of the Guild on election monitoring last Saturday. Members of the Guild expressed their gratitude to Odumakin training them on the fundamentals of election monitoring.

During the visit, Odumakin recounted her earlier encounter with late Dr. Beko Ransome Kuti. She said on a particular day, she booked an appointment to meet Dr. Beko by 4 pm and that she was coming from Ilorin. She said she arrived at the office of Dr. Beko at 4: 30 pm when he was already on his way from his office. Beko who accused her of coming late even though she was coming from Ilorin, advised her to always keep to time. According to Odumakin, Beko was always keeping to time.

Odumakin said while she was anxious to return return home after seeing Dr. Beko, the later said he wanted to visit Fela Anikulapo Kuti . According to Odumakin, she was so excited to hear this piece of information because she had been looking for an opportunity to meet Fela. Thus, she followed Beko to Fela's home. At Fela's home, she inhaled the smoke from people that were smoking marijuana which made her felt dizzy but one of Fela's wives gave her something to lick which relieved her from the dizziness. During the visit, members of the Guild were also taken through the processes of writing proposals to source for funds from international donors to fund NGOs.

The visit was a huge success as it opened the eyes of members of the Guild to certain tips about the management of nongovernmental organizations. Dr. Odumakin with two of her staffers gave adequate attentions to members of the Guild. Members of the Guild who visited Odumakin were the President, Mr. Ayo Baje, the Secretary, Mr. Victor Anya and the Treasurer, Mr. Joseph Amaoru.
